Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable data warehouse, data infrastructure, and analytics experience, extensive variety, and frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology Branch? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Business Intelligence Data Warehousing Group (BI DWG). The Information Technology Specialist I work as a Data conversion analyst for the EDD BI DWG.

The incumbent represents the interest of EDD's program customers, Department goals, and IT Branch directives in developing new Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities which lead to cost savings, improved analytical decision making and faster response times for external and internal information requests.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• ETL tools such as AWS Glue and data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift.
• Microsoft SQL Server database administration hands on skills supporting a production database in all operations, such as troubleshooting daily operational issues.
• Database design and modeling.
• Knowledge of APIs and/or API gateways.
• Experience developing in various Cloud Environment (public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud).
• Microsoft SQL Server databases, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup / restore, troubleshooting, and maintaining high availability in complex environments and mission critical applications.
• Create scripts using VB Script, Batch Language, Python, and Microsoft PowerShell.
• Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).   
• Building/deploying / maintaining and supporting SSIS packages, SQL Jobs including database maintenance packages and SSRS reports.
• Complex data analysis and integration using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Writing SQL with complex joins, stored procedures, and database functions.
• C# programming.
• Data extraction from SQL and IBM Db2 databases.
• Working experience in integrating and extracting relevant information from large amounts of both structured and unstructured data (internal and external) to enable analytical solutions.
• Experience manipulating large data sets through statistical software (ex. SAS, Tableau, PowerBI) or other methods.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.
