Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Director, Food Safety Programs & Projects to lead the development and implementation of scalable food safety systems across our North America operations. This individual will maintain our ISO 22000-aligned Food Safety Management System (FSMS), support regulatory readiness (FSMA 204, GMPs), and serve as the primary food safety partner for emerging models including offsite production, commissaries, and warehousing.

The ideal candidate brings food safety experience in both manufacturing and retail food service environments, understands FDA/USDA compliance requirements, and thrives in a highly collaborative, project-driven setting. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with responsibility for program infrastructure, communication, and direct facility support.

This is a remote position, requires 25% travel. Candidate can reside anywhere within the United States.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve FSMS tools, SOPs, and communication strategy
  • Lead food safety support for emerging models (offsite, warehouse, FSMA 204)
  • Conduct regular check-ins with production site teams; lead monthly QA manager meetings
  • Support new GMP audit program implementation and corrective actions
  • Act as working group member for FSMA 204 traceability project
  • Collaborate with corporate and field teams to ensure food safety alignment and readiness

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, Microbiology, or a related field
  • 57+ years in food safety across manufacturing and retail settings
  • PCQI & HACCP certification; RS, CP-FS, CC-FS preferred
  • Strong knowledge of FDA, FSMA, HACCP, GFSI, ISO 22000
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Excellent communicator with strong organizational and documentation skills
