Staff Engineer The Staff Engineer will support ACH processing using EDI and PEP+ software within a DevOps model. Responsibilities include system software and hardware support, performance monitoring, and problem resolution. The role involves communication with technicians, clients, and management, providing technical input for decision-making regarding software. Key duties encompass analysis, design, testing, development, and maintenance of projects, with a focus on medium to high complexity solutions. The candidate should be self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to delivering software artifacts that adhere to Comerica Bank standards, ensuring minimal customer impact. Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps principles is essential. Position Responsibilities: Design Methodology Investigate and propose strategic technology solutions. Collaborate with Business Units, Application teams, infrastructure, and vendors to evaluate requirements. Identify virtualization, consolidation, and rationalization opportunities within infrastructure or business sectors. Recommend changes to technical design solutions as needed. Review and advise on new technologies, roadmaps, vendor products related to server and system software technologies. Assess strategic fit across platforms and solutions, including hardware and software technologies. Participate in capacity planning and technology investment discussions. Technical Consulting Provide consulting and planning guidance for moderate projects. Work with infrastructure teams on initiatives to meet organizational goals. Contribute to short-term and long-term planning to support business and operational needs. Assist project teams with design development, system integration, and alignment with strategic principles. Develop project estimates during planning and review phases. Planning and Organizing Evaluate projects and design processes to improve solutions. Translate requirements into standard service solutions, leveraging existing or reusable technology. Propose alternatives for non-standard solutions to meet application needs. Conduct feasibility and risk analyses for solutions. Guide project planning and oversee large, complex initiatives across multiple departments. Risk Management Participate in CAB/ECAB meetings and assess change risks. Develop and update guiding principles and strategies. Review and approve design solutions for projects and initiatives. Administration Keep management informed with timely reports. Participate in departmental committees. Stay updated on emerging technologies in engineering.
