Job Description

Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide communication support at an elementary school setting in Antioch, CA. This contract position is for the current school year (CSY) and involves facilitating effective communication between hearing-impaired students, staff, and educators.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities
• Support students' access to educational content by ensuring clear communication
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt communication methods as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Participate in relevant meetings and trainings to enhance service delivery

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpretation experience
• Understanding of educational environments and needs of elementary-aged children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting
• Prior experience as a school-based interpreter preferred
