Job Description

This contract opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in an educational setting in Bonaire, GA. The position requires providing 1:1 onsite interpreting services throughout the 2023-2024 school year, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week. This role is critical in facilitating effective communication and accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Qualifications:

• Georgia Educational Interpreter certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC), or eligibility to obtain it
• Minimum certification of EIPA 3.5 or National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
• Demonstrated experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably in K-12 educational environments
• Strong knowledge of sign language and the ability to accurately interpret academic content
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and support personnel

Location:

• Bonaire, GA (onsite position)

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for assigned students ensuring accessibility throughout the school day
• Collaborate with educators and staff to support students' educational needs
• Adhere to state and federal laws, regulations, and school policies relating to communication access
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Attend required training and professional development sessions as necessary
