Job Description
We are seeking an EMC/EMI, RF Test Specialist in our San Diego, California location.
You will perform EMC/RF testing to meet overall laboratory needs. This includes writing EMC/RF test plans, performing actual hands on EMC/Wireless testing, and documenting final results in a formal report in accordance with both domestic and international EMC/RF test standards.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
- Under scope of the project, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
- Follow established test plan.
- Set-up and operate EUT, perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
- Perform testing of products in accordance with standards.
- Engage in problem solving activities to address product failure/non-compliance issues.
- Develop test methods to comply with both regulatory test standards and customer specifications. This will also include automating these test methods to improve laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and improve laboratory operational procedures and technical procedures to expand our ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
- Following sample handling procedures, ensure that sample is logged into and out of the system, and move equipment as needed through the facility.
- Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide ongoing support to clients as needed.
- Within policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters.
- Carrying out testing and other activities related to assigned projects according to the Nemko standard of project management.
- The ability to work within deadlines.
- A comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations and the standards.
- Responsibility to ensure that the work is verified by a verifier.
- Confident decision-making and the ability to explain ideas and plans clearly.
- Work according to the current guidelines and requirements for Quality Assurance.
- Contribute to any actions initiated to create a safe working environment.
- Use all laboratory equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with Nemko protocols.
- Work according to the current guidelines and requirements for Quality Assurance as described in Quality Manual, C300-manual and other relevant documentation.
- Conduct rigorous EMC testing and analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards while integrating cybersecurity assessments specific to EMC product vulnerabilities.
- Utilize computer science expertise to develop and implement innovative testing methodologies and simulation tools for identifying potential EMC and cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and regulations in EMC, cybersecurity, and related domains, and apply this knowledge to enhance testing processes and product development.
- Document testing procedures, results, and recommendations effectively, ensuring clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Senior Engineers with a segment specialty shall:
- Contribute/assess project engineers within the Nemko NGV scheme.
- Tutor and mentor project engineers.
- Contribute to seminars for knowledge sharing for Nemko and Nemko’s customers.
Experience
- 3 years directly related professional experience preferred
- Experience with U.S., Canadian, and International standards a plus
- Work experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is preferable

EDUCATION
Post-secondary degree/diploma in electrical engineering with background in cyber testing or equivalent plus directly related work history in a compliance testing environment.
