Exhibitions Designer (PH)
Recognizing the unique and enduring creative legacy started by Walt Disney, the Walt Disney Archives was established in 1970 to collect, preserve and make available for research the historical materials relating to Walt and the company he founded.
This position will report to the Manager, Exhibitions. The qualified candidate must possess the following:
Core competency of exhibition, experiential, themed, and immersive design practices and techniques
Strong design communication skills, ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create floor plans, architectural, and technical drawings, as well as basic knowledge of algebra and geometry
Highly collaborative and confident, ability to work closely with project team to support the goals of the guest experience
Understanding of current popular software workflow such as SketchUp, Revit, 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD, and other similar software
Knowledge of techniques and best practices for safe and proper packing and crating of assets for storage, shipments, installation/deinstallation, and mounting
Specific project workload: Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume; All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives, Live Action Reference Photo exhibit, upcoming SciFi exhibition, Destination D23 exhibit
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with Manager, Exhibitions, conceive and design all components of exhibitions, including but not limited to: layout, fabrication of elements, color schemes, lighting, decorative case work, and interactives.
Design exhibition graphics, including ancillary promotional materials such as pitch decks, marketing toolkits, logos, and exhibition installation guides
Design object transport solutions, such as crates, internal housing, trucking load plans, and mounts
Provide design and supervision of contractors engaged to fabricate exhibition components, exhibit technology, graphics, and other exhibition elements
Participate in installs/deinstalls of traveling exhibitions for both domestic and international venues
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in exhibition design, graphic design, themed entertainment, museum studies, or engineering
At least 3 years previous experience in exhibition design, themed entertainment design, graphic design, etc.
Aware of current trends and latest technology in the fields of exhibitions, as well as themed, immersive, and experiential entertainment
