Fleet Maintenance Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Location: San Bernardino, California

Pay rate: $31.14/hr.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of preventative maintenance inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment. This role is critical in maintaining fleet reliability and safety while meeting operational standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in drive-train, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and hold valid certifications relevant to emissions and vehicle repair.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair chassis, drive-train, hydraulic, and electrical systems (AC/DC).
• Perform emissions diagnostics and repairs as required.
• Maintain accurate service and inspection records, both paper and digital.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental standards.
• Operate vehicles with both automatic and manual transmissions as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the fleet operations team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Valid California Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Air Brake endorsement.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical, hydraulic, and drive-train systems.
• Valid CA BAR Emissions Inspector and Emission Repair Technician License.
• ASE Master Automotive or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Certification (must remain current).
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and digital maintenance platforms.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and use online repair resources.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Must maintain a clean and organized work environment with safety as a top priority.
• Ability to distinguish color-coded wiring and indicators.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional ASE Certifications.
• Experience with shop maintenance software.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
