TITLE: Graphic Design Assistant POSITION TYPE: Part Time, Non-Exempt COMPANY: Sharks Sports and Entertainment, LLC LOCATION: Tech CU Arena, San Jose, CA REPORTS TO: Director, Marketing & Communications POSTING DATED: July 15, 2025 Pay Range: The hourly rate for this role is $18.60 per hour Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Position Overview The San Jose Barracuda are looking to hire a Graphic Design Assistant, acting under the direction of the Barracuda Marketing and Digital Media Manager and Barracuda Graphic Designer. The Graphic Design Assistant will assist in the design and production of graphics for print and online advertising, social media and web, marketing collateral, promotional materials, and sponsor deck content for the San Jose Barracuda.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist in designing a wide variety of creative assets
- Assist the Barracuda Graphic Designer with creative needs for projects and campaigns alongside various departments
- Create visual content for digital platforms, sales collateral, print collateral, merchandise, sponsorship decks, and spaces / experiences.
- Collaborate with Graphic Designers on full scale campaigns and help evolve visual brand identity for the San Jose Barracuda
- Assist on multiple design projects at any given time and execute according to established timeline and guidelines
- Ability and desire to follow design guidelines and direction
- Ability to work within project management tool (Asana)
- Ability to understand the needs of requestors, communicate effectively, and respond positively to feedback
- Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build productive professional relationships across the company
- Be a team player with a positive attitude and sense of humor, contributing and working alongside current designers
- Be excited to work for one of the most iconic organizations in professional sports
- Retouch and manipulate images
- Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
- Receive feedback from the Manager, Marketing and Digital Media Manager and Barracuda Graphic Designer and make necessary changes
- Assemble final presentation material as needed
Minimum Qualifications - Graphic design experience with a portfolio or samples of work to present
- Graphic Design major preferred
- Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
- Must currently be studying Graphic Design or be a recent Graphic Design graduate looking to gain knowledge and experience from the Barracuda Graphic Designer.
- Intermediate Level Experience with Adobe Creative Suite Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is required, After Effects and Premiere a plus
- May be asked to work nights and weekends for games or special events, when necessary

Physical Requirements - Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
- Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
- Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
- Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
- Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
- May be required to travel to other company locations
- May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
