Job Description

Join a dynamic, fast-paced organization dedicated to innovation and excellence in healthcare operations! Our client is seeking an In House Counsel to support our legal team in managing diverse legal needs within our growing healthcare business. This is a highly visible role where you will collaborate directly with senior leadership, handle high-impact legal matters, and serve as a strategic advisor to various departments. ***Prior experience with medical malpractice litigation would be beneficial in this role!***

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Offer counsel on clinical and corporate-level operations, including areas such as medical malpractice, risk management, healthcare compliance (including HIPAA), payor audits/disputes, and other patient care matters.
  • Provide legal guidance to Compliance, Revenue Cycle/Billing, and Marketing teams.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate chiropractor employment agreements and amendments.
  • Oversee vendor contract negotiations (e.g., IT and Marketing) to ensure alignment with company risk tolerance.
  • Support litigation, administrative/regulatory matters, and risk assessments.
  • Handle real estate legal matters, including lease drafting, review, and negotiation.
  • Assist in mergers & acquisitions (M&A), including legal due diligence and post-closing deliverables.
  • Manage new corporate entity creations, such as state filings and operational agreements.
  • Develop and refine practice management agreements and related operational templates.
  • Provide strategic and legal support for various ad hoc projects and initiatives driven by executive leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Education : Juris Doctor (JD) degree and license to practice law in Illinois. Licensure in additional states is a plus.
  • Experience : 7+ years of combined legal experience in both in-house and law firm settings, with a focus on healthcare corporate and business operations, real estate, litigation, and M&A/asset transaction work.
  • Healthcare Expertise : Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulatory matters (e.g., HIPAA, corporate practice of medicine). Familiarity with management services organizations (MSOs) and franchising laws is preferred.
  • Private Equity : Previous experience working with private equity portfolio companies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in legal research and technology tools, as well as a strong understanding of contract law, compliance issues, and business operations.
