Role Overview: As a Maintenance Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our metals processing equipment. Your responsibilities will include scheduled, unscheduled, and preventative maintenance tasks such as inspecting, installing, and repairing equipment like shredders, conveyors, motors, and more. You'll troubleshoot and rebuild conveyor bearings, replace motors, repair screws, install conveyor belts, and modify pipelines. Additionally, you'll assist in the modification of plant equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and proactive maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns.
• Utilize root-cause analysis to investigate breakdowns and line stoppages.
• Prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize production downtime.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation in the computerized maintenance system.
• Repair and maintain industrial machinery, including inspection, assembly, and disassembly.
• Diagnose malfunctions using mechanical devices and ensure thorough testing of repaired equipment.
• Review maintenance reports to plan and modify activities.
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and operational standards.
• Work on scheduled and unscheduled outage assignments, including on-call and night shift rotations.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• 2-4 years of experience in maintenance or a related field
• Ability to understand technical procedures and read Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Effective communication skills with supervisors and colleagues
• Basic knowledge of rigging practices and experience with machine and hand tools
• Ability to perform small welding projects and use a burning torch

Work Environment:

• Frequent and extended periods of work both indoors and outdoors, subject to all weather conditions
• Continuous walking, standing, climbing, and periods of sustained physical exertion
• Regular lifting, carrying, and positioning of heavy objects using proper techniques
• Operation of tools and equipment that cause loud noise and vibrations
