Job Description:
Portledge School seeks to hire a part-time Library Assistant to help supervise students ranging from 9th grade to 12th grade in the Upper School Library Monday-Friday, from 9am-2pm. This is a part-time, 10-month position operating during days that classes are in session from September to June in a typical school year. The Library Assistant will report to the school Librarian.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for student management in the library
Responsible for circulating and shelving materials
Responsible for assisting with creating thematic displays
Responsible for keeping library and office spaces tidy and organized
Responsible for assisting with troubleshooting (ex. printer jams, digital file transfers)
Assist librarian(s) with cataloging and other digital operations (Destiny usage, records management and overdue reports) as needed
Assist librarian(s), Division and Department Heads with community outreach (book displays, promotions, communications)
Assist with library collection maintenance
Assist with other administrative tasks (purchasing and POs, ESEA & BIDS documentation, database usage reports, supply inventory and ordering, etc.)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Familiarity with K-12 school environment
Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings
Belief in the value of all types of diversity with a commitment to social justice and equity
Equity and Inclusion Training preferred
Blackbaud and Google Suite experience preferred
CPR and First Aid certification a plus
