Job Announcement: Low Voltage / Alarm Technician

📍 Location: Chesapeake, VA

💵 Pay: $18–$22/hour (based on experience)

🕒 Job Type: Full-time

Sentry Security Systems is seeking a motivated and dependable Low Voltage / Alarm Technician to join our growing operations team. This individual will install, service, and maintain burglar and fire alarm systems, CCTV/video surveillance, access control systems, and low-voltage cabling (CAT5, fiber optic, and telephone lines) across residential and commercial job sites.

This is a field-based role based out of Chesapeake, VA, with projects throughout Virginia and North Carolina. If you have strong technical aptitude, great communication skills, and are ready to grow with a company committed to quality and innovation—this role is for you.

· Install, test, and troubleshoot alarm systems and surveillance cameras

· Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling (CAT5/6, fiber, coax, phone)

· Perform routine service, inspections, and upgrades on installed systems

· Maintain clean and organized job sites and company vehicles

· Communicate effectively with team members, management, and clients

· Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and best practices

· For Entry Level Consideration: Required Basic understanding of hand tools, measuring devices, and principles of electricity and electronics systems. Preferred: Familiarity with fire alarm systems, monitoring systems, and structured cabling (CAT5, CAT6, coax, fiber optic).

· For Experienced-Level Consideration: Required: 2+ years of hands-on experience in alarm systems, CCTV, or access control installation or maintenance. Preferred: Familiarity with fire alarm systems, monitoring systems, and structured cabling (CAT5, CAT6, coax, fiber optic). High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Able to pass a criminal background check and DMV license check

· Willing to undergo drug screening (as applicable per VA/NC law and policy)

· Comfortable using hand and power tools, climbing ladders, and lifting 50+ lbs

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

· Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented

· DCJS registration (VA)

· NICET or manufacturer certifications

· OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification

· Experience with fire alarms or access control systems
