BACKGROUND
The Climate Change Team is a thematic programme of the IUCN Secretariat, within the IUCN Centre for Economy and Finance that works under a mandate provided by IUCN membership with a focus on delivering key transformations in the conservation, restoration and management of ecosystems. CC works as a delocalised team across several IUCN duty stations with the majority of the staff divided between its Gland-based Headquarters, Bonn, and Washington D.C. office.
The incumbent will support the Senior Programme Officer, Climate Change, in tasks related to the implementation of the Global EbA Fund and other global-scale climate change adaptation projects. The incumbent will support in coordinating regular meetings with fund recipients, reviewing technical documents, communications, and donor deliverables; and in ensuring the timely coordination of activities and reports among IUCN and partner offices. The Programme Associate will support the production of quality and timely internal and external facing communications materials, webpages, and social media content for IUCN’s Climate Change Team, including for specific flagship projects including the Global EbA Fund, CBA SCALE, and Friends of EbA network.JOB DESCRIPTION
a) Support ESMS checks as part of project selection due diligence and conduct initial review and document safeguard reporting through project cycle for all on-going projects.
b) Support grants management activities for Global EbA Fund in Africa and Latin America (occasionally in Spanish), including scheduling and participating in bi-annual project calls between the EbA Fund Secretariat and funded projects.
c) Review of grantee bi-annual reports ensuring best practice in projects and tracking deliverables and expenditure.
d) Lead on the organisation of a webinar series for key stakeholders to share knowledge via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc, including preparing concept notes, inviting speakers, preparing event presentation slides, and event summary reports.
e) Develop a project communications asset to collate communications and knowledge products from the Fund’s 100 projects to support the Secretariat’s activities in collating and disseminating lessons on the factors for success for EbA.
f) Contribute to the revision and implementation of project closure reporting including capturing key lessons learned and innovative action implemented, identifying thematic case studies for development.
g) Contribute to the development of the 2024 Fund Impact Report, drawing from 2024 project core indicator reporting.
h) Draft articles, case studies, thematic knowledge products to communicate project lessons, best practices, and methods in alignment with IUCN, partner, and donor programmatic goals, and contribute to the Global EbA Fund website and social media accounts.
REQUIREMENTS
• 1-3 years relevant work experience in fields related to ecosystem management, sustainable development, climate change, international development, gender, and/or environmental science. Previous experience supporting a grants mechanism is desirable.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a subject relevant to natural resources management, geography, international development, conservation science, environmental policy, social sciences, etc. • Well-developed computer skills (Word for Windows, Excel, e-mail)• Good organizational, administrative and reporting skills • Ability to work independently and on multiple tasks simultaneously • Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs • Highly motivated to learn and develop new skills, keen to bring in own ideas • Excellent interpersonal skills; Proven ability to work harmoniously as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity • Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish is required. The gross annual salary for this position is between USD 67'727 and USD 84'659. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
