DEARBORN ACADEMY Reading Specialist Start Date: August 22, 2025 for the 2025‑2026 school year, full‑time position. Dearborn Academy, one of New England’s leading 766 approved therapeutic day schools, is seeking a full‑time reading specialist for the 2025‑2026 school year. Dearborn enrolls up to sixty students in grades 3‑12 who have specific learning disabilities and/or mild to moderate emotional challenges. Our rich academic program, which includes diversified student support and explicit instruction combined with our strong clinical component, allows students who have been unsuccessful in previous school settings to achieve substantial success. Responsibilities Design and implement instruction for 1:1 and small group classes (for reading remediation; Dearborn predominantly uses the Wilson Reading System). Complete assessments and collect data regarding student progress and gaps for information sharing and tracking (team meetings, quarterly progress reports, and annual IEPs). Provide language and executive function support in other classrooms. Work collaboratively with the Dearborn team to support a consistent and trauma‑informed school culture. Actively participate in program departmental and school‑wide trainings, meetings, and activities. Perform other duties within the milieu as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required. MA Licensure in Reading, Moderate Disabilities, or English required (or qualified for a waiver). Two years experience with the ED and LD population preferred. Experience with the use of assistive technology to support academics preferred. Strong commitment to academic preparation with an emphasis on a student‑centered education.
