Senior Environmental Specialist

CORPORATE SUMMARY

Salt Creek Midstream (SCM) was built to provide a full suite of midstream services to producers in the Delaware Basin. SCM leverages fundamental and intra-basin knowledge to optimize the value of producer resources, reduce bottlenecks and deliver higher netbacks to the producer.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Environmental Specialist is responsible for providing environmental support on the construction and operations of crude oil pipelines/terminals, natural gas pipelines/compressor stations, natural gas processing plants, NGL pipelines, and produced water pipelines/injections wells to help ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to champion SCM’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Reports to the EHS Manager. This position may supervise third-party environmental consultants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist management, operations, and project teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate rules and regulations regarding environmental matters.

• Manage air permits and the fugitive emissions monitoring program, including regulatory reporting and compliance certifications.

• Coordinate, gather data, and facilitate periodic environmental reporting including but not limited to Emissions Inventory, GHG, and Tier II submittals.

• Ensure compliance with SPCC requirements and assist with spill response and remediation activities as needed, including the facilitation of required reporting to appropriate parties, such as RRC, TCEQ, NMOCD, EPA, NRC, and PHMSA.

• Communicate regular updates on EHS releases, permit deviations, and enforcement status to Operations and Regulatory leadership.

• Maintain a working knowledge of existing facilities, including periodic site visits. Site walkabouts to include visual observations on compliance with air permits, SPCC plans, and remediation requirements. FLIR inspections to be performed as needed.

• Assist with reviewing facility MOC’s to identify potential environmental impacts, document critical information, and initiate the permitting process as required.

• Maintain a working knowledge of regulations that affect SCM’s assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. degree

• 5-7 years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

• Solid technical understanding of environmental regulations related to environmental air in Texas and New Mexico.

• Experience in interpreting and complying with environmental regulations and implementing programs/procedures for sustained compliance.

• Able to manage priorities and meet deadlines related to regulatory requirements.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.

• The ability to work within a collaborative team environment demonstrated personal drive and initiative to achieve goals.

An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources.

• Intermediate-level desktop computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to travel away overnight periodically, as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related science.

• Direct experience in consulting or related industry.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to drive to remote locations for field inspections

• Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.

• Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.

• Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, FRC).

• The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, handle or feel, and reach with hands or arms.
