What You'll Do

• Build the Future of Money Movement: Design and code the core of our real-time transactions engine. You'll be combining Web2 payment networks (think ACH, SWIFT, UPI) with Web3 rails (Ethereum, Polygon, Stellar, Solana, Tron) to create a unified payments platform. One moment you might be working on an integration with a bank's RTP API, the next you're writing a smart contract to move stablecoins on-chain – you'll do it all.
• Integrate Stablecoins & DeFi: Bring the power of crypto to mainstream payments. You will integrate stablecoins into the platform so our users can transfer value in USD-backed digital currency at lightning speed. You'll also work on connecting to DeFi protocols when it makes sense – imagine hooking into liquidity pools or DEXs to get the best FX rates automatically. We're talking always-on, cross-border transfers without the usual headaches.
• Performance Tuning at Extreme Scale: This role isn't for the faint of heart – our goal is to obliterate transaction speed barriers. You'll profile every millisecond of our transaction pipeline, from database writes to network hops. You'll tweak message brokers, optimize smart contract calls, and fine-tune cloud infrastructure to achieve sub-millisecond latency where possible. If there's a way to make it faster or more efficient, you'll find it.
• Ensure Rock-Solid Reliability: Real-time means no downtime. You'll architect active-active systems across regions, implement fallback mechanisms, and use chaos engineering to test our limits. The result? A platform that handles network surges or component failures with zero hiccups. Our reliability goal is 99.999% and you're the kind of engineer who thinks five nines is just the beginning.
• API-First & Secure Coding: Champion an API-first approach, ensuring every component is built with robust, scalable, and secure APIs (think comprehensive documentation, versioning, and industry best practices like Swagger/OpenAPI). Coupled with a relentless commitment to secure coding—regular code reviews, secure design patterns, and proactive vulnerability assessments—you'll make sure our platform stands up to the highest standards of security and integration.
• Drive Innovation: At a startup, everyone wears multiple hats. You'll collaborate with product teams to ideate new features, with data teams to incorporate AI-driven fraud detection, and more. You're not just coding to spec – you're actively thinking of ways to push the envelope, whether that's implementing the latest account abstraction idea or trying out a new layer-2 scaling solution. Every week brings a new challenge, and you'll be at the center of the action.

What We're Looking For

• Seasoned Builder: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with a focus on distributed systems or high-speed transaction platforms. You've perhaps built payment systems, trading platforms, or real-time data pipelines before – and loved it.
• Payments + Crypto Expert: You know the ins and outs of traditional payment networks (RTP/ACH, UPI, PIX, SEPA, etc.) and you're fluent in blockchain tech (you've built on Ethereum or other chains, understand how to work with stablecoins, maybe even dabbled in Solidity or Rust). In short, you're equally comfortable debugging an API integration with a bank and a smart contract on a testnet.
• Performance Mindset: You have a passion for optimization. You've tuned JVM garbage collectors, fine-tuned SQL queries, squeezed out bytes over the wire, or optimized cloud deployments for throughput. Terms like latency, throughput, and concurrency make you excited, not scared.
• Cloud-Native Chops: Experience deploying and running services in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure). You're familiar with Docker/Kubernetes and have built CI/CD pipelines. Bonus points if you've set up monitoring dashboards and can quickly pinpoint bottlenecks in a distributed system.
• Adaptability and Drive: You thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. Unknowns don't frighten you – you embrace learning new technologies on the fly. You take ownership, run with ideas, and enjoy collaborating with a team of enthusiastic, smart people ready to disrupt the status quo.
• Education: We care about what you can do more than a specific degree. BS/MS in Computer Science is great, but proven experience and skills go a long way.
