General Summary:

Oversee development, implementation and compliance of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for Colorado School District placed learners at Firefly Autism. This role ensures the delivery of appropriate special education services, facilitates collaboration between Firefly’s clinical teams, school districts, families, and related service providers, and promotes an inclusive learning environment tailored to each student’s unique needs.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid Colorado teaching license; Special Education Generalist (ages 5-21).
    • Early childhood Special Education Endorsement a plus
  • A minimum of three years of experience in special education, with a focus on the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff in a collaborative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

IEP Development and Oversight:

  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of IEPs, ensuring that goals are measurable, appropriate, and aligned with the needs of the learner.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate academic assessments for learners as needed.
  • Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings with Firefly team, district representatives, parents, administrators, and related service providers.
  • Monitor learner progress towards IEP goals and work closely with Firefly teams to adjust goals as necessary to support continued IEP growth.

Compliance and Program Coordination:

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
  • Oversee the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and related services outlined in students' IEPs.
  • Collaborate with Firefly team and district partners to maintain compliance with district policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of IEP documents, progress reports, and related student data.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Must coordinate and work closely with Director of Center Based Services, Firefly Board Certified Behavior Analysists, and Registered Behavior Technicians to ensure complimentary behavior services and IEP adherence for the overarching objective of achieving appropriate developmental progress for each unique learner.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families regarding their child’s IEP, addressing concerns, providing guidance, and ensuring transparency in the process. Refers to clinical team for any behavioral goals essential for the learner’s progress.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment by assisting in training and education for the organization regarding IEP best practices and special education laws.
  • Stay informed on current trends, research, and legislative updates in special education to maintain compliance with IDEA, ECEA, and CDE.
  • Collaborate with BCBA’s and RSP’s to facilitate weekly team meetings.
  • Present information in a collaborative setting during district meetings.
  • Engages in training and development activities to further knowledge of autism and applied behavior analysis
  • Keeps CPR and First Aid certification current
  • Other professional development and training as assigned

Physical Requirements of the Job:

  • The incumbent typically will work across multiple environments using a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
  • Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 40 pounds.
  • The incumbent may be involved in crisis situations across clients and must be willing to be trained in crisis management and perform the duties required in the current training system.
