Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Missouri is a residential treatment facility providing care to adolescents. Our team ensures patients receive the high-quality, personalized care they need to overcome mental health and behavioral challenges. We offer a range of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals,
residential treatment centers, and outpatient counseling and therapies.

Overview: 
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure compliance with all school systems and State of Missouri educational standards. The role involves overseeing the curriculum, classroom schedule, and the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials that effectively address the individual needs of students. This includes considering state and school requirements alongside the physical, emotional, and educational development levels of each student.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with Missouri education requirements and regulations by developing, implementing, and monitoring each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), including behavioral-based goals, life skills, and vocational skills.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation for students as required by organizational and governing authority standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized academic programs through formal and informal assessments of academic achievement, social-emotional development, and vocational skills, preparing materials and lesson plans according to assessment goals.
  • Utilize various instructional techniques and materials to enhance learning, ensuring a balanced approach without over-relying on any single medium.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the IEP and treatment planning process by reviewing referral and assessment data, preparing for meetings, reporting current data, creating appropriate goals, and monitoring student progress.
  • Manage the classroom to maintain a safe, secure, and effective learning environment, providing clear expectations and consistency while implementing appropriate behavior management strategies.
  • Maintain a firm, fair, and consistent instructional approach, promoting student involvement and reinforcing positive behaviors in line with the facility's behavior management plan.
  • Anticipate potential behavior problems by maintaining line-of-sight supervision and assessing students’ behavior patterns.
  • Ensure the rights of all students are observed and protected through respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and appropriate physical restraint methods when necessary.
  • Project a positive role model image by actively participating as a team member, cooperating with staff, and attending required meetings while following the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain appropriate relationships with students, treating them respectfully, eliciting their interest and cooperation, and maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Report any known or suspected violations of company policies or procedures to supervisors while maintaining confidentiality of all student records per program guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Mastery Achievement Program (MAP) standards by responding to feedback, showing improvement, identifying new areas for growth, and enhancing skills.
  • Promote positive community relations by coordinating with outside agencies and groups, effectively communicating with families and staff members, ensuring all communication is clear and professional.
  • Provide timely and professional documentation by recording grades, progress notes, IEP goals, incident reports, and other required information according to standardized practices.
  • Maintain a conducive classroom environment by ensuring cleanliness and orderliness, displaying appropriate materials that promote a positive learning atmosphere, and overseeing the maintenance and operation of classroom equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of classroom supplies, preparing replacement orders as necessary.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university, one to two years related experience and/or training, valid state teacher's license and/or appropriate endorsement (preferred) 
  • 60 college credit hours with sub certification (minimum) 
  • Physical capability to bend, stoop, lift, and assist with patient interventions
