MIG Welder

Currently hiring MIG welders in the University Park, IL area. Hiring immediately.

Job Description

• Perform MIG welding on mild carbon steel, mainly 12 gauge, in various positions.
• Utilize grinders and other hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.
• Read blueprints as required.
• Transport materials using a hand cart.
• Complete projects within the allotted target time, which can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on experience and product.
• Lift up to 75 lbs as needed.
• Operate a hydraulic welding table.
• Dedicate 90% of the day to MIG welding and the remaining 10% to material transport and tool usage.

Essential Skills

• Experience in welding in vertical, horizontal, and circular positions.

Work Environment

Work in a heavy industrial environment with 40 welding booths equipped with hydraulic tables, fabrication machinery, conveyors, and forklifts. The setting is not well-lit and can be dirty. Required PPE includes steel toe boots, eye protection, hoods, gloves, and sleeves, which are provided. The workplace is non-union, and 65% of employees are Spanish-speaking.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
