POSITION PURPOSE

At Adobe Population Health, we are seeking an Interpreter to help bridge the language barrier between our members and support staff. In this role, you will provide inbound/outbound calls and coordinate communication efforts, between members and other member services via phone support, customer services, surveys, and scheduling. As an Interpreter, you will perform skilled, first-person interpretation. Acting as an Interpreter, you will be performing and reviewing calls under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures.

This position is fully remote and operates during typical business hours, Tuesday-Thursday: 11am-5pm; and Friday: 8a-2pm.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude in providing customer service by being respectful of all clients.
  • Work collaboratively within a team setting to provide positive outcomes for patients. Demonstrate professional, appropriate, and effective communication with clients, families, and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality, following all HIPPA guidelines and regulations.
  • Answer incoming calls about service inquiries.
  • Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English and applicant's language.
  • Ability to summarize and translate audio and text, including slang and colloquialisms, in a real-time manner.
  • Demonstrate prior interpreting and/or translating experience in a professional or personal setting.
  • Adequately prioritize tasks while demonstrating attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and text message terminology in English and applicant's language.
  • Typing abilities to exceed 40 words per minute.
  • Capable of adapting well under pressure and functioning cohesively in a team environment.
  • Serves as an interpreter at seminars, speeches, meetings, teleconferences, and symposia, providing consecutive or simultaneous translation between languages.
  • Listens to complete statements in one language, translates to second, and translates responses from second into the first language; expresses either approximate or exact translation, depending on the nature of the occasion.
  • In simultaneous interpreting, renders oral translation of material at the time it is being spoken.
  • Receives briefing or prepares through reading and study on the subject to be discussed prior to interpreting session.
  • Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.
  • Translates messages simultaneously or consecutively into specified languages, orally or with hand signs, maintaining message content, context, and style.
  • Listens to speakers' statements to determine meanings and to prepare translations, using electronic listening systems as necessary.
  • Compiles terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms, such as those for legal or medical material.
  • Reads written materials, such as legal documents, scientific works, or news reports, and rewrites material into specified languages.
  • Proofreads, edits, and revises translated materials.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Bilingual required - the ability to speak English and Spanish fluently.

  • Interpret : To translate orally either consecutively or simultaneously from the source language to the target language.
  • Analyze : To examine methodically and in detail the constitution of information for purposes of explanation and interpretation

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to drive long distances, which may require a two-hour radius of your designated county (travel time is paid and mileage reimbursement is available).
  • Must be comfortable with working in a variety of conditions, including members’ homes, physicians’ offices, cold conditions, and hot conditions.
  • Must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position which include lifting 30 lbs., transporting materials, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, use of hands, balancing, walking, standing, talking, hearing, and typing.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
