Qualitative Game Tester

Apply Directly: -----://---.-----------.--- are looking for participants in the Las Vegas area. 50% of our opportunities are virtual, but we have a Play Testing Lab in Las Vegas where we conduct in-person game tests.

About:

Interpret LLC, a video game research firm, owns the Good Gamer Group. The Good Gamer Group is a large and diverse community of gamers, brought together by a passion for gaming. We conduct a wide variety of gaming-related studies and invite players of all platforms and genres to apply for our research opportunities​.

In 2023, we conducted 1,081 studies specific to video games. Since 2020, we have paid out $3 million in incentives to our Good Gamer Group members.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in various studies such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and playtests.
  • Provide feedback and insights on different games and gaming-related topics.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of the study and respect the privacy guidelines established by the Interpret LLC​​.
  • Ensure you show up on-time for studies.

These playtests and focus group opportunities occur on an ad-hoc basis. This is not a full-time job. Each study we conduct has its own requirements. We match participants with studies based on your Good Gamer Group profile and all in-person and virtual studies require re-screening to ensure a member is qualified before being placed into a study.

Qualifications:

Passion for Gaming: An enthusiasm and love for games of various genres and platforms is essential. You do not need to be a “hardcore” gamer. We are looking for gamers of all types, including those that play casual mobile games.

Communication Skills: The ability to clearly articulate thoughts, opinions, and findings is crucial in focus groups. Members should be able to share their experiences in a way that others can understand and relate to.

Critical Thinking: Members should be able to evaluate gameplay, user interfaces, and other elements from a player's perspective, as well as consider the impact of these elements on different types of players.

Open-Mindedness: Members should be open to playing and providing feedback on a variety of games, even those outside of their preferred genres or platforms.

Team Player: As part of a focus group, it's important for members to work well with others, respect differing opinions, and contribute to a productive group discussion.

Reliability and Integrity: Members must respect the confidentiality of the study, consistently participate in scheduled sessions, and provide honest, thoughtful feedback.

Requirements:

  • Current U.S. resident.
  • At least 13 years of age. (Parental permission is required if you are under 18 to participate).
  • Actively plays games on PC, Console, or Mobile platform(s).
  • Strong articulation skills; the ability to thoroughly explain your feedback and thoughts.
  • For virtual opportunities, access to a laptop or desktop computer with a functional webcam is required. Some studies may have additional requirements, such as a specific smartphone model for mobile playtests​.

Compensation:

We try to ensure compensations are around $75 - $100/hr and each type of study has various lengths.

Surveys: $5 to $20
Interviews: $75 to $300
Focus Groups: $125 to $300
Play Tests: $125 to $1,000
