Major Duties and Responsibilities Enforce, monitor, and document construction safety, environmental safety, and security requirements for the MATOC contractors; Coordinate with WMATA Department of Safety and Environmental Management (SAFE) as necessary and provide reports to WMATA’s safety department as needed; Work closely with WMATA field staff and contractors to ensure understanding of their responsibilities with respect to safety and conduct regular daily safety surveys; Attend project-related meetings including, but not limited to, project meetings occurring in the field or other required location; Review and comment on project-related submittals including, but not limited to: Job Hazard Analysis, Contractor Safety Manual, Safety Data Sheets, and Crane Lift Plans; Administer, monitor, and coordinate the MATOC construction safety aspects to ensure compliance with the Authority’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP); Direct implementation, administration, and review of the effectiveness of the industrial, construction, and environmental safety aspects of the Authority’s PTASP, in association with the MATOC Program; Consult with and advise the MATOC Task Manager and the Contractor’s Project Manager on developing safety goals and objectives in accordance with the requirements of the PTASP; Implement and evaluate safety standards and procedures necessary to eliminate, minimize, or control the degree of risk involving people-to-equipment interface in a variety of occupational and related subject areas; Determine the adequacy of maintenance safety practices and procedures in assuring the desired level of safety and recommend any necessary policy and procedure changes to SAFE; and Support SAFE’s investigations of MATOC construction accidents/incidents to identify root causes, determine facts, recommend appropriate corrective actions, and develop effective preventive measures. Requirements Background and Experience Required A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; A minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction safety or transit safety and working on multiple task orders; and Successful completion of the OSHA 30-hour Construction Course (in-person).
